The Tata Institute of Fundamental Research is one of the foremost institutes in the country for research in fundamental sciences. Founded by Dr. Homi Bhabha, TIFR was established in 1945 at Mumbai. TIFR provides excellent opportunities for talented students. It’s Graduate Program invites applications for TIFR admissions.

Course: M.Sc – Ph.D. program in Mathematics at the Center for Applicable Mathematics. Interested candidates pursuing B.Sc can complete their Undergraduate degree and also earn both M.Sc and PhD at the same time with the GS 2020 program.

Last date to submit applications for registration: 9th November 2019

Date of written exam: 8th December 2019

Result of written exam: January 2020

Eligibility criteria:

  • The candidate must have a bachelor’s degree with Mathematics as the main subject.

Or

  • The candidate must possess a degree in engineering with a strong aptitude for mathematics.
  • Students in the final year of graduation are eligible to apply.

Admission procedure: TIFR conducts a written exam for granting admission at its nationwide centers. The candidates who clear the written exam are shortlisted and called for a final selection based on an interview/counseling. The candidates who are chosen can pursue a dual degree or choose to exit after an M.Sc degree.

Fellowship: TIFR offers a scholarship of 21000/- per month for scholars along with a contingency grant of 25000 per annum. Candidates pursuing PhD are entitled to a scholarship of 35000/- per month and a contingency fund of 40000/- per annum.
