SSC JE Syllabus And Exam Pattern:

The Staff Selection Commission is responsible for conducting the SSC JE recruitment exam. Engineering graduates are recruited for the post of Junior Engineer in various branches which include Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Contracts and Surveying. The SSC JE Syllabus and exam pattern will help candidates to prepare for the exam systematically.

The SSC JE exam is conducted in 2 stages. These include the following:

  • Paper 1
  • Paper 2   

SSC JE Exam pattern:

  • The SSC JE paper 1 is a computer based online examination.
  • The exam consists of multiple choice objective questions.
  • The medium of the exam is English/ Hindi.
  • The duration of the exam is 2 hours/ 120 minutes.
  • The total number of questions asked ae 200.
  • The total weightage of the exam is 200 marks.
  • The paper 1 will consist of 3 sections which include the following:
  • General Intelligence and Reasoning
  • General Awareness
  • General Engineering which has 3 options which include
  • Part A – Civil and Structural Engineering
  • Part B – Electrical Engineering
  • Part C – Mechanical Engineering
  •  The marking scheme is as follows:
  • Correct answer: +1 marks
  • Incorrect answer: -0.25 marks

  • The SSC JE Paper 2 is a pen and paper based offline examination.
  • The exam consists of descriptive essay type questions.
  • The duration of the exam is 2 hours/ 120 minutes.
  • The total weightage of the exam is 300 marks.
  • The exam consists of questions based on any one of the engineering streams which include:
  • Part A – Civil Engineering and Structural Engineering
  • Part B – Electrical Engineering
  • Part C – Mechanical Engineering
