IBPS SO Exam Pattern:

The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) is responsible for conducting the IBPS SO examination to recruit SO, officers and clerks in various public sector banks. The IBPS conducts a Common Written Examination (CWE) at an all India level. The IBPS SO recruits eligible candidates to the post of Marketing officer/ HR or Personnel officer/ IT officer/ Rajbhasha adhikari/ Agricultural Field officer/ Law officer and others. The IBPS SO exam pattern helps candidates to prepare for the recruitment exam systematically.

Date of start of registration of application: 7th November 2020

Last date to submit completed application: 26th November 2020

Date of IBPS preliminary exam: 26th and 27th December 2020

Date of IBPS main exam: 30th January 2021

Application fee:

  • General/ EWS/ OBC: 600/-
  • SC/ ST/ PwD: 100/-

The IBPS SO exam is conducted in 3 stages. These include the following:

  • Preliminary exam
  • Main exam
  • Interview

Preliminary IBPS SO exam pattern: 

  • The exam is a computer based online exam.
  • The exam consists of MCQ (multiple choice objective questions).
  • The duration of the exam is 2 hours or 120 minutes.
  • The medium of the exam is English or Hindi.
  • The total number of questions asked is 150.
  • The total weightage of the exam is 125 marks.
  • The marking scheme is as follows:
  • For Every Incorrect answer: – 1/4th marks will be deducted.
  • The exam consists of 3 sections. These include the following:
  • English Language
  • Reasoning Ability and Quantitative Aptitude
  • General Awareness

Mains IBPS SO exam pattern:

  • The exam is a computer based online exam.

  • The duration of the exam is 1 hour pr 60 minutes or 45 minutes as per the post applied for.
  • The main exam will consist of questions based on the professional knowledge. 
  • The medium of exam is Hindi or English.
