RRB NTPC Exam Pattern:

The Railway Recruitment Board NTPC has released vacancies for various posts for the year 2020. The RRB is responsible for conducting the recruitment examination for the various posts. The RRB NTPC exam pattern helps candidates prepare in a systematic manner for the recruitment exam.

Here are the details of the RRB NTPC exam pattern:

Date of release of notification: 28th February 2019

Date of start of registration of application: 1st March 2019

Last date to submit completed application: 31st march 2019

Date of payment of fee: 5th to 12th April 2019 till 2359 hours.

Date of RRB NTPC Exam: March – April 2020 tentative

RRB NTPC has released notification for 35,208 vacancies. These include Non-Technical Popular Categories (NTPC) which includes Junior Clerk cum Typist, Accounts Clerk cum Typist, Junior Time Keeper, Trains Clerk, Commercial cum Ticket Clerk, Traffic Assistant, Goods Guard, Senior Commercial cum Ticket Clerk, Senior Clerk cum Typist, Junior Account Assistant cum Typist, Senior Time Keeper, Commercial Apprentice and Station Master in various Zonal Railways and Production Units of Indian Railways.

  • Age relaxation is as per the guideline laid down by the Government of India.
  • Educational qualifications:
  • Undergraduate level posts: The candidate must have passed class 12th from a recognized board/ School.
  • Graduate level posts: The candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university.

RRB NTPC exam pattern:

The RRB NTPC selection procedure is based on 4 stages which include the following:

  • 1st stage CBT
  • 2nd stage CBT
  • Skill test/ Aptitude test
  • Verification of documents
  • Medical examination

The marking scheme includes negative marking.

  • Correct answer: +1 marks
  • Incorrect answer: – 1/3rd marks will be deducted
  • The marks of each session will be normalized to adjust the difficulty of question papers, as the exam is conducted in multiple sessions.

Stage 1 CBT:

  • The 1st stage exam is a computer based online test.
  • The exam consists of multiple choice objective questions. 
  • The duration of the CBT is 1 ½ hours/ 90 minutes.
  • The exam consists of a total of 100 questions.

Stage 2 CBT:

  • The exam is a computer based online examination.
  • The exam consists of multiple choice objective questions.
  • The exam consists of a total of 120 questions
  • The duration of the exam is 1 ½ hours/ 90 minutes.

Computer Based Aptitude Test:

  • This is conducted for candidates appearing for the post of Station Master and Traffic Assistant.

Typing Skill Test:

  • The candidate should type at least 30 words per minute in English and 25 words per minute in Hindi.
