The Railway Recruitment Board is responsible for conducting the recruitment exam for Non-Technical Popular Categories (NTPC). The RRB NTPC Exam pattern is essential for candidates appearing for the exam.

Application fee:

  • General category: 500/-
  • PwBD/ Female transgender/ Ex- servicemen/ BC/ SC/ ST/ Minority communities: 250/-
  • The application fee must be paid online through credit or debit card or other net banking options.

The RRB NTPC exam pattern consists of 5 stages. These include the following:

  • 1st stage: Preliminary exam
  • 2nd stage: Main exam
  • 3rd stage: Skill test
  • 4th stage: Document verification
  • 5th stages: Medical examination

Preliminary exam:

  • The exam is a computer based online examination.
  • The exam consists of multiple choice objective questions.
  • The total duration of the exam is 1 ½ hours/ 90 minutes.
  • The total number of questions asked are 100.
  • The total weightage of the exam is 100 marks.
  • The marking scheme is as follows:
  • Correct answer: + 1 mark
  • Incorrect answer: – 1/3rd marks will be deducted.

Main exam:

  • The main exam is a computer based online exam.
  • The exam consists of multiple choice objective questions or MCQ.
  • The total duration of the exam is 1 ½ hours or 90 minutes.
  • The total number of questions that will be asked are 120.
  • The total weightage of the exam is 120 marks.
  • The marking scheme is as follows:
  • For every Correct answer: + 1 mark
  • For every Incorrect answer: – 1/3rd marks will be deducted.

Skill test:

  • Computer based aptitude test
  • The exam is conducted for candidates appearing for the post of Station master and Traffic assistant.
  • The candidate must secure the minimum T score of 42 marks in the CBAT.
  • The medium of the exam will be English/ Hindi.
  • The candidate must pass in each of the test batteries.
  • Typing skill test
  • The typing test is qualifying in nature.
  • The candidate must be able to type at least 30 words per minute in English and 25 words per minute in Hindi on the computer without the use of any editing tool.
