PTE Exam Pattern Details

The Pearson Test of English or the PTE is an English language proficiency test. The PTE is a mandatory exam for all those students who hail from nations where English is not a native language. The PET is conducted to test the reading, writing, listening and speaking skills of the students appearing for the exam. The PTE exam pattern helps the candidates to understand the way the test is conducted.

Here are the details of the PTE exam pattern:

The 4 important skills of the English language are tested through the PTE. The different modules are designed to specifically assess the skills. The PET exam comprises of the following:

  • Module 1: Writing and Speaking
  • Module 2: Reading
  • Module 3: Listening

Exam pattern:

  • The duration of the PTE is 3 hours/ 180 minutes.
  • Speaking and Writing: 77 to 93 minutes.
  • Reading: 32 to 41 minutes
  • Listening: 45 to 57 minutes
  • The PTE is a computer based test and the candidate needs a computer and a headset to respond to the questions.
  • Candidates have to listen, read, write and speak.
