PCS J Exam Pattern Details You Might Want to Know About

PCS J Exam Pattern:

The Public Service Commission conducts the Judicial Service examination every year. The UPPSC has released a notification regarding the PCS J examination to be held for the recruitment of Civil Judge Junior Division. The PCS J exam pattern comes to the aid of eligible candidates for the preparation of the exam.

Here are the details of the PCS J exam pattern:

Eligibility criteria:

  • The candidate must be a citizen of India.
  • The candidate must be a domicile of the state of Uttar Pradesh.
  • The candidate must possess a bachelor degree in law from a university in Uttar Pradesh / any recognized university in India.
  • The candidate must be a registered advocate as specified.
  • The candidate must have a thorough knowledge of Hindi in Devnagri script.
  • The candidate must be at least 22 years of age and must not exceed 35 years (Inclusive of both).
  • Age relaxation is as follows:
  • SC/ ST: 5 years
  • OBC: 3 years

PCS J exam pattern:

The UP PCS J follows a 3 stage examination pattern. These include the following:

  • Preliminary exam
  • Main exam
  • Personality test

Preliminary exam:

  • The prelims consist of multiple choice objective questions.
  • The prelim comprises of 2 papers.
  • Time duration for both the papers is 2 hours/ 120 minute each.
  • The distribution of marks is as follows:

  •  The marking scheme for prelims is as follows:
  • Incorrect answer: 0.33 marks will be deducted.

Main examination: 

  • The exam is descriptive in nature.
  • The exam consists of subjective/ conventional questions.
  • The exam consists of 5 papers. These include:
