NEET PG Exam Pattern:

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for post-graduation popularly called as NEET-PG is an entrance exam held every year for candidates seeking admission to various medical postgraduate courses across India. It is an eligibility cum ranking examination for MD (Doctor of Medicine)/ MS (Master in Surgery) and PG Diploma courses. The NEET PG exam is conducted by the National Board of Examinations (NBE). The NEET PG exam pattern helps candidates in wholesome preparation for the exam.

Here are the details of the NEET PG exam pattern:

Date of start of registration of application form: 1st November 2019

Last date to submit completed application: 21st November 2019

Release of admit card: 28th December 2019

Date of NEET PG exam: 5th January 2020

Date of declaration of result: 30th January 2020

Eligibility criteria:

  • The candidate must possess an MBBS degree recognized by the Indian Medical Council or a provisional MBBS pass certificate.
  • The candidate must possess a permanent or provisional registration certificate of MBBS issued by the Indian Medical Council or the State Medical Council.
  • The candidate must have completed a 1-year internship on or before 31st March 2020.
  • The candidates will be selected on the basis of a merit list prepared by the NBE for 50% all India quota. A percentile is fixed each year on the basis of a minimum cutoff percentile. This is as follows:

  •  Seat reservation is as follows:
  • SC: 15%
  • ST: 7.5%
  • OBC: 27%

NEET PG Exam pattern:

  • The exam is a computer based online exam.
  • The exam comprises of multiple choice objective questions.
  • The medium of the exam is English.
  • The duration of the exam is 3 ½ hours / 210 minutes.
  • The exam consists of a total of 300 questions.
  • The exam has 3 sections A, B and C.
  • The marking scheme is as follows:
  • Correct answer: +4 marks
  • Incorrect answer: -1 marks
  • The 3 sections have the following breakdown of questions:
