There are a lot of private and government colleges in India who provide this course. It is a UG level degree medical course. The duration of the course is for 5 and a half years. It includes one year of internship where the students are given the practical knowledge about the subject. Admission in the government colleges is through the exam conducted by the government and private dental colleges at the all India level that is (NEET). Exam in some of the private colleges can also be conducted through the separate exams by the universities itself.
In India, if one wishes to do MBBS, he has to give three exams that are conducted at the national level. One is NEET (National entrance eligibility test) conducted at a national level for all the 500 government and private dental colleges in India except for AIMS and JIPMER.
Secondly, AIMS MBBS, this exam is given by the students to study MBBS in the 7 AIMS hospital in all over the country earlier there were only 700 seats provided by the AIMS institutes, but after introducing two more AIIMS that is AIIMS Guntur and AIIMS Nagpur the number of seats will be increased to 807.
The last one is JIPMER MBBS, it is well described as Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research (JIPMER), Puducherry. JIPMER MBBS Exam is an online entrance test for admission to 150 MBBS seats of the institute. MBBS Admission Procedure in India for JIPMER has two campuses – Puducherry and Karaikal, with 100 and 50 seats respectively.
Only those students are eligible to give the MBBS entrance exams who have passed their 12th with physics, chemistry, and biology as their main subjects. To be a fully eligible candidate must have got 50% in PCB for general category and 45% for SC/ST. It is not an easy task to bed doctor. The age of the candidate applying for the exam shall be not less than 17 years and not more than 25 years. All three entrance exams have their different cut off for the admission. Out of 479, 221 are government colleges and 258 are private colleges. 15% seats of all colleges are filled by central government and remaining are filled by state governments for government colleges.
