University of Toronto
The University of Toronto ranked 19th globally and the top university in Canada according to the Times Higher Education Magazine. Toronto’s most famous institution of higher education, this university earned its rank thanks to its strong research capabilities. It’s also very welcoming to international students – the university has people enrolled from 160 countries across the globe.
University of British Columbia
UBC is ranked on the Times Higher Education’s second spot for top Canadian universities, ranking 34th globally. This is one of British Columbia’s oldest educational institutions, UBC got its ranking due to its reputation for research, distinguished alumni and modern facilities.
McGill University is ranked third in Canada, according to Times Higher Education. The magazine gave the university the 38th spot globally. McGill is one of three universities in Quebec at which you can learn in English. Its wide variety of academic programs attract students from 150 countries. In fact, nearly a quarter of the student body is from overseas.
The university is ranked on number fourth on this list but isn’t in a major city. McMaster University came in 94th on the Times Higher Education list. It’s a slightly smaller school than the top three universities. 15% of its student body comes from other countries, attracted by the research opportunities and high-quality study programs.
University of Waterloo
Ontario’s University of Waterloo is placed in the top 200 spots globally by the Times Higher Education magazine. The University of Waterloo is known for its engineering and physical sciences program. It’s also got one of the world’s largest academic co-op programs.
