Here are the details of the IIT Kanpur winter admissions:

  • The dates for the JEE Main exams have been announced, the registration dates are from 2nd to 10th October 2019 and the exam will be conducted from 6th to 11th January 2020.
  • IIT Kanpur offers close to 60 courses in 5 disciplines. The admission to the undergraduate courses especially B.Tech courses starts from December with the registration for JEE Mains. The admissions are through JEE Mains, JEE Advanced which is followed by a JoSSA counseling for the shortlisted candidates.
  • Admission to M.tech/MS is based on the valid GATE score.
  • Admission to M.Des is based on the CEED score.
  • Admission is MBA is based on the CAT score followed by an interview conducted by the department at IIT Kanpur.

Engineering Master’s degree in relevant discipline with a minimum of 65 % marks and first division in bachelor’s degree and JRF/95 percentile or higher in GATE score.
Science Master’s degree in the relevant discipline or a bachelor’s degree in engineering or science (4 year program) with minimum marks 55%. Valid GATE/UGC/ CSIR score for financial assistance, except for graduates from IITs with a minimum CGPA of 8.0.
Humanities and Social Sciences Master’s degree in the subject or a bachelor’s degree in engineering or sciences (4 year program) or a master’s degree in sciences or in an allied field with a minimum 55% marks. Valid GATE/UGC/CSIR score for financial assistance, except for graduates from IITs with a minimum CGPA of 8.0. Applicants in Economics should have at least +2 Level mathematics background.
Management Master’s degree from CFTI (Centrally Funded Technical Institutes) with CPI of minimum 7.0 in the 8th semester may apply (the candidate must have CPI of 7.5 at the time of admission) or Master’s degree in science or an allied area with minimum of 65% marks and first division in bachelor’s degree and JRF/CAT/GMAT/NET/95 percentile or higher in GATE.
Design Master’s degree in Engineering/ Technology/ Design or Master’s Degree in Science or an allied area with a minimum of 65 % marks and first division in Bachelor’s Degree and 95 percentile or higher in GATE /CEED score.
