Aadhar card consists of a unique 12-digit number that is generated after scanning the person’s fingerprints and retina. The card can be attained only after the approval of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). The UIDAI or Unique Identification Authority of India, which issues both Aadhaar number and Aadhaar card to the general public, provides several facilities online for those who own an Aadhaar card or have Aadhar number. Aadhar card is considered as a very important and the strongest identity proof and as Age proof by various government authorities or even the private authorities.
If the date of birth that you mentioned on your Aadhaar card is wrong, it is not going to be that easy to get it corrected. If you wish to change the date of birth the second time then it is going to a very long process for you. As per the recent notification that is issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), if you correct your date of birth on the Aadhaar card more than once then the holder of the Aadhaar card will have to visit their regional office. If you wish to change it for the second time then you would have to visit UIDAI’s regional centre and get it done through an ‘exception handling process’.
The procedure is made strict to discourage people to make changes in their Aadhar for change in date of birth. Updating details related to change in date of birth on Aadhar card will not require more than once. The procedure of change of Date of birth after the first time is hard and strict. And the holder will only be able to change in the second time under the strict checking. Earlier the procedure was comparatively easy as the person used to visit the nearest enrolment centre for the change of birth date. There was no specified limit on the number of times the corrections could be made. But now the procedure is made strict and less convenient.
The unique identification Authority of India has said that in genuine cases, change in birth date can be considered provided the said individual has the required documents or the relevant details to prove his/her case. Initially, unique identification Authority of India (UIDAI) had allowed the change in date of birth via post. The Holder can update/correct the Aadhar details by sending the duly filled form along with the relevant documents. But now the details can only be corrected or updated by the online method or by visiting the enrolment centre. If you wish to download the form to fill in the details beforehand then you can only fill the form to change the address of the holder. The options to change the date of birth, phone number and other details are not available.
