  • Take a rectangular piece of leather and cut it to size you want leaving a little extra space at the top bottom and sides of the pencils.
  • Arrange the pencil and crayons on the leather piece as you would lay on the case. Mark with a pencil.
  • Use a ruler to get evenly spaced out marks for keeping the pencil.
  • Taking a pencil and ruler mark small slits on the leather measuring in such a way that it is centered according to the length of the pencil.
  • Mark in such a way that there is enough leather to hold the pencil.
  • Using the cutting blade/ exacto knife cut slits on the leather at the places you have marked. The width of the slit will be on the basis of the size of the pencil.
  • Repeat the slitting till you have cut all the slits.
  • On either side make a small hole which is big enough for the leather lace to fit in.
  • Push the leather lace through the hole and tie a knot so the lace doesn’t slip through.
  • Place your pencils/ crayons/ sketch pens in place and roll up your pencil case.
  • Roll up your DIY pencil case and cut the leather lace to the desired size.
  • Secure the pencil case by tucking the lace into itself.

The DIY pencil case is easy to make and doesn’t require any sewing or gluing.
