The higher the voltage, the higher the ebike’s power and speed. 24V ebikes are fairly weak and are really only sufficient for low speeds and flat ground with light riders. 10Ah is a common starting capacity, and increasing up to 20Ah will buy yourself more range. The capacity will decide how far you will ride.
You can easily make a DIY e-bike in the comfort of your home with nothing more than a kit and a few hours. Here are some basic steps to making your DIY e-bike:
1. Gather materials that you want for your e-bike. A mainframe for your bicycle, battery and the drivetrain.
2. Install the motorized wheel – The front wheel uses a motor for power.
3. Install the end bracket and carrying case. The bulk of the weight involved in this conversion comes from the batteries, and these, along with the motor driver, will be installed on a cargo bracket above the rear wheel of your bike.
4. Install the brake levers and throttle – The DIY kit comes with handlebar grips to which you can fix grips, shifters, brake levers.
5. Install battery – Connect the batteries and the wires to the motor on the e-bike.
6. Once the battery is installed plug it into the driver and secure all loose ends. You’re ready to ride your e-bike.
This DIY e-bike is simple to build and can be replicated at minimal cost without any electrical know-how and can be powerful and reliable at the same time.
