First, wrap a box lid with a colorful piece of wrapping paper used for gifts and secure the paper under the lid with wrapping paper. If the lid is small, you can use scrapbooking the paper instead.
Now, cut a pair of white or black nylons approx. 4 inches (10.16 centimeters) longer than your lid. Also, If you have a light color paper, you should use white nylons and if your paper is a dark color, you should use black nylons. Cut the nylons from the top, where they are wider. This will help you to ensure that they are wide enough for your lid. If you could try and find colored nylons, choose a color that matches your wrapping. If you want fancier earring holder, use lacey nylons instead.
Now, place the lid inside the nylons. Center it as much as possible, so that there are 2 inches (5.08 centimeters) of nylon hanging off to any of the sides of the lid.
Do fold the ends of the nylons to the back of the lid try to secure them with hot glue. Do not worry about being too neat; this will be the back of your earring holder and will be invisible once you hang it.
Now, cut a piece of ribbon that would match your earring holder and measure the width of your lid, then cut a piece of ribbon according to that measurement.
Make a loop with the ribbon, and hot glue the ends to the back of your earring holder. Now, Make the loop more secure, by tieing the ends of the ribbon into a knot first, then glue it down.
