For all those who want to join as teachers in government schools run by the Center like Kendriya Vidyalayas, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, NVS and others of the ilk, the Central Teaching Eligibility Test or CTET conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is the ultimate way to get recruited. It is conducted twice in the year, once in July and the other in December. The aspirant has to secure a minimum 60% and more to clear the CTET. The eligibility criteria for appearing for CTET varies with class. The CTET certificate is valid for 7 years.

The eligibility criteria for appearing for CTET is as follows:

For Primary Stage – Any One Of The following

Senior Secondary or equivalent with a minimum 50% marks. Have passed or appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education or equivalent.

Senior Secondary or equivalent with a minimum 45% marks. Have passed or appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education or equivalent, in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations, 2002.
Senior Secondary or equivalent with minimum 50% marks. Have passed or appearing in final year of 4- year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
Senior Secondary or equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks. Should have passed or appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Education (Special Education).
Graduation with minimum 50% marks and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) is mandatory.
Elementary Stage – Any One Of The Following

Graduation is compulsory. Should have passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education or equivalent.

Graduation with minimum 50% marks. Should have passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed).
Graduation with minimum 45% marks. Should have passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed), in compliance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations.
Senior Secondary or equivalent with minimum 50% marks. Should have passed or appearing in final year of 4- year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
Senior Secondary or equivalent with minimum 50% marks. Should have passed or appearing in final year of 4- year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed.
Graduation with minimum 50% marks. Should have passed or appearing in 1-year B.Ed (Special Education)
Any aspirant having qualified the B.Ed. Program as recognized by the NCTE is eligible to appear in TET/CTET. As per the existing TET guidelines circulated vide NCTE letter dated 11-02-2011, “a person who is pursuing any of the teacher education courses (recognized by the NCTE or the RCI, as the case may be) specified in the NCTE Notification dated 23rd August 2010 is also qualified to appear in the TET/CTET.”

The age limit of CTET exam 2019: To apply for CTET, the minimum age limit is 18 years. There is no upper age limit.

The last date for filing of forms is 18th September 2019.

Here is how to fill the CTET online application form:

  • Firstly, Log in to the website ctet.nic.in
  • Click on apply online option on the webpage.
  • Also, Fill in the details required and secure a registration/reference number.
  • You need to upload the photograph and scan signature in the prescribed format.
  • Next, Pay the CTET examination fee by various options that include debit card/credit card/ net banking/e challan.
  • You will get a confirmation, print this confirmation page.

The CTET examination is aimed at providing competent and able teachers to the younger generation of Indians.
