CHSL Exam Pattern:

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts the Combined Higher Secondary Level Examination (CHSL). The SSC CHSL is conducted by the SSC at an All India level. SSC CHSL notification has been released for the recruitment of various posts. The CHSL exam pattern is essential in the systematic preparation of the exam.

Here are the details of the CHSL exam pattern:

Date of start of registration for CHSL: 3rd December 2019

Last date to submit completed application: 10th January 2020

Date of exam: 16th to 27th March 2020

SSC CHSL will be conducted by SSC for a total of 3259 posts which include the following: 

  • Lower Divisional Clerk: 898 vacancies
  • Postal Assistant: 2359 vacancies
  • Data Entry Operator: 2 vacancies

Eligibility criteria:

  • The candidate must be citizen of India.
  • The candidate must have passed class 12th or equivalent from a recognized board/ school.
  • Candidates appearing for class 12th exams are also eligible to apply.
  • The candidate must be at least 18 years of age and must not exceed 27 years.
  • Age relaxation is as per the guidelines laid down by the Government of India. it is as follows:
  • SC/ST – 5 Years
  • OBC – 3 Years
  • PH – 10 Years
  • PH + OBC – 13 Years
  • PH + SC/ST – 15 Years

CHSL Exam pattern:

  • The CHSL exam comprises of 3 stages which include:
  • Tier 1 CBT
  • Tier 2 Written test
  • Tier 3 Skill based test

Tier 3 Skill Based Test: Analyses the typing and data entry speed of the prospective candidates:

  • Typing Test:
  • English: Typing speed of 35 words per minute is required. 
  • Hindi: Typing speed of 30 words per minute is required.
  • Typing test will be applicable for Postal Assistant/Sorting Assistant, LDC, and Court Clerk posts.
  • Skill Test
  • Data Entry Speed should be at least 8,000 key depressions per hour on the computer.
  • Skill test is conducted for the post of Data Entry Operator.
