If you own a vehicle then you might know and understand the importance of registration certificate (RC). RC is issued to the people who buy a vehicle. It can also be transferred to the people if you wish to sell your car or feel like renting it someday. The registration certificate is an important document that your vehicle has. A Registration certificate or an RC is an official document that proves that your vehicle is registered with the officer who is Regional Transport Office (RTO) authorities. This adds up to the importance of keeping a registration certificate or RC. The registration certificate is nowadays available in the form of a smart card. The smart card will have the following information on it:
1) Registration Number
2) Registration Date
3) Engine Number
4) Chassis Number
5) Colour of the vehicle
6) Type of the vehicle
7) Seating Capacity
8) Model Number
These are the exact information that is mentioned on the smart card or the registration card or the RC. These particulars are generally known by the officials too, thus it is very difficult to fool around a police officer who asks for one. If you have just bought a vehicle and you wish to check your RC status or registration certificate online you can do so. It is a very simple task and includes just a few clicks to check the status online. To check the status online, you can follow the steps below.
1) Visit the official RC vehicle website http://parivahan.gov.in
2) Select the option ‘registration certificate or RC status’.
3) After clicking on the status a new page will be displayed.
4) On that new page a few details will be asked regarding your vehicle registration. Fill your vehicle registration number in two parts.
5) After filling the above details, one needs to fill the registered phone number as well in order to receive the OTP. Fill your phone number to get OTP.
6) After entering your number, you will receive the OTP via text message.
7) Enter the OTP as it is and then click submit.
Your registration certificate or RC status will be displayed on your screen.
The process to check the online vehicle RC or registration certificate is simple and can be done easily without wasting much of your time.
Since RC is an important document, one should never lose it. Even if after all the precautions and safety measures one loses the RC, the person can still get a duplicate registration certificate. The procedure is simple and is as follows.
1)First one needs to purchase a blank file that will hold all your papers. One has to write the name, address, a mobile number on the file. Do name that files as ‘Duplicate RC request’.
2)On a Stamp Paper worth Rs.20, get the affidavit made stating all the details of your car or bike. Ensure that the fact about your missing RC card is also mentioned on it.
3)All documents including emission test photocopies, Form 26 (includes the endorsement of vehicle registering authority), passport sized photographs, insurance papers, local address proof and identity proof must be there in the file. Submit this file to the RTO Superintendent.
4)After the Superintendent verifies all your documents, he will put his signature on them.
5) one has to visit the ARTO (assistant Regional Transport Office) for your ID proof verification and attestation.
6)Collect the receipt after you pay the necessary fees and charges for the smart card.
7)You must go to the Superintendent of the RTO with the receipt so that he can verify and sign it.
8)Obtain the acknowledgment slip from the counter.
The slip that you will get will include the date on which you will receive your RC or registration certificate card.
