CBSE Class 10 Maths Exam Pattern 2020:

The central Board of Secondary Examination (CBSE) has changed the examination format from the academic year 2020. CBSE will now conduct 2 exams which include the basic math exam and the standard Maths exam. The CBSE Class 10 Maths exam pattern 2020 will help the students prepare for the exam systematically.

The CBSE class 10 Maths exam is scheduled to be held on 12th March 2020.

CBSE Class 10th Maths exam pattern:

  • The total weightage of the Maths exam is 100 marks.
  • The marks will be divided into 2 parts, which include:
  • Annual board exams: 80 marks
  • Internal assessment: 20 marks. 
  • The duration of the exam is 3 hours/ 180 minutes.
  • The medium of the exam is Hindi/ English.
  • The question paper consists of 40 questions divided into four sections which include:  A, B, C & D.
  • Section A comprises 20 questions of 1 mark each.
  • Section B comprises 6 questions of 2 marks each.
  • Section C comprises 8 questions of 3 marks each.
  • Section D comprises 6 questions of 4 marks each.
  • The question paper does not have any overall choice.
  • Internal choices have be given in 2 questions of 1 mark each, 2 questions of 2 marks each, 3 questions of 3 marks each and 3 questions of 4 marks each.
  • Students must attempt only one of the alternatives in all such questions.

  • It is important to note that marks will be awarded for each step in the question, therefore it is important to give a stepwise solution to the questions.
  • Students must also keep in mind that they must write the conclusion at the end of the question as it carries marks.
