Being a desert area, the state of Rajasthan can be unforgiving and sweltering in the summer season. The Thar Desert as it commonly referred to in India Rajasthan is one of the most visited states in the country.

The ideal time to visit is from October to February when the state experiences the winter season. Most of the tourism fairs and festivals are organized during the winter season to accommodate maximum number of tourists visiting the state. These include the Shilpgram festival at Udaipur and Polo matches at the Jaipur Polo Grounds and others.
Monsoon season from July to August completely transforms Rajasthan. The hot and arid desert is transformed into a lush green oasis with cool temperatures. You can spot the peacocks dancing to the “megh malhar” the song of the clouds rain and thunder. The Aravalis turn a bright green and places like Udaipur, Kumbhalgarh, Kota, Mount Abu are a pleasure to the eyes in the monsoon season.
The summer season from April to June can be quite merciless as far as the temperatures go but the hospitality of the local people will definitely make all the difference. It is best advised to not travel during the summer season though.
